The school environment can sometimes be stressful and competitive for pupils. Children can take part in a physical activity where physical ability and body shape is immaterial. These sessions are non competitive, the goal is self awareness and self progression. The children experience yoga interwoven with captivating storytelling which include physical yoga postures, breath awareness, relaxation, sensory awareness, partner work, group work, yoga games.
Yoga days can be linked to the curriculum ie healthy lifestyle, geography, history, languages of India, anatomy of human body, different cultures and lifestyles, biology from animal and plant postures, art/design, 2D and 3D projects using animals and plants for inspiration.
Yoga:-
– improves – focus, self motivation, self discipline, attention and memory, self confidence, co-ordination, stability and balance, energy levels
– builds – stamina, strength, flexibility
– cleanses – body, mind, spirit, de-stresses
Children who practice yoga from a young age are destined to expand and develop their natural attributes, capacities and talents to the fullest.
Several repeat sessions of 45 minutes can take place throughout a school day, or sessions can be 30 mins or 20 mins.
Teacher Sessions: These are valuable for de-stressing the individual, helping to find inner peace, clearing the mind and energizing the whole system. These sessions are also good for bonding teams together as they can include partners and team work.
